A manufacturing company located on the South Shore of Montreal is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer.

Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will work in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment. The individual will be responsible for the design of jigs and fixtures used for welding (manual and robotic), assembly, and inspection, applicable to a wide range of products.

Under the supervision of the Methods Specialist, the Mechanical Designer will be involved in all stages of development, including concept creation, component selection, cost validation, design for manufacturability, production of technical drawings, and validation of work orders.

The individual will also support the manufacturing and quality teams during the construction and validation of jigs and fixtures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure products are designed and manufactured in accordance with specifications.
  • Design and validate jigs and fixtures using SolidWorks.
  • Produce manufacturing drawings.
  • Select components and materials based on technical requirements.
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOM).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and improve designs.
  • Support production in resolving assembly and manufacturing issues.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and technical reviews.
  • Perform any other related duties associated with the position.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technical field.
  • Excellent proficiency in SolidWorks, with a minimum of 5 years of design experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude with a hands-on engineering approach.
  • Good knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical systems.
  • Essential experience in welding and sheet metal.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in French and English (clients located in the United States).
