About the Position
A well-established manufacturing company on Montreal’s South Shore is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of the warehouse’s shipping activities
The person in this role will be responsible for coordinating warehouse operations, supervising a team of employees, and ensuring that products are prepared and shipped on time, accurately, and in compliance with health and safety standards.
The Supervisor will play a key role in improving logistics performance, reducing shipping errors, and optimizing warehouse processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, motivate, and manage the shipping and warehouse team.
- Plan daily activities based on production priorities and customer orders.
- Coordinate the preparation, packaging, labeling, and shipping of products.
- Organize shipments and coordinate with carriers.
- Ensure compliance with shipping schedules and specific customer requirements.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and collaborate with the purchasing and production departments.
- Track orders in the ERP/WMS system and verify the accuracy of transactions.
- Verify shipping documents, delivery notes, bills of lading, and other required documents.
- Quickly identify and resolve issues related to delays, packing errors, damage, or inventory discrepancies.
- Participate in investigations regarding non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions for shipping activities.
- Monitor performance metrics: on-time shipments, packing errors, productivity, inventory, and transportation costs.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing operational efficiency.
- Maintain 5S and Lean practices in all areas of work.
- Enforce health and safety rules as well as internal procedures.
- Train new employees and ensure the professional development of team members.
Skills and qualifications :
- College degree in Operations Management or a related field, combined with 3 to 5 years of leadership experience in the manufacturing sector.
- Strong passion for achievement.
- Ability to perform with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Trustworthy and committed to accountability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and effective working relationships.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Fluency in French and English (for employees and customers in the United States).
