We’re Looking for an Operations Superintendent
Under the supervision of the Mine Director, the Operations Superintendent is responsible for the overall management of mining activities. This includes planning, ensuring the safe execution of operations, and achieving production targets, all while respecting budgets and deadlines. The role involves close collaboration with all departments to ensure optimal, safe, and efficient underground operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead underground operations teams, ensuring detailed planning and safe execution of all activities
- Promote a strong health and safety culture within the workforce
- Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term production plans
- Optimize the use of human, material, and equipment resources
- Ensure seamless integration of technical services with mining operations
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Manage the mining operations budget and monitor operational costs
- Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency
- Prepare operational and financial reports for senior management
- Supervise, train, and evaluate team members
- Actively contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of technical and operational staff
- Coordinate special projects and development initiatives
- Maintain clear and effective communication across departments
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and adopt industry best practices
- Leverage new technologies to enhance operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and procedures
- Conduct performance evaluations and support skill development
- Assist with problem-solving and the implementation of lasting solutions
Skills and qualifications :
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Expertise in underground mining operations
- Proficiency in mining management and planning software
