Job description :

Our client is currently looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing internal controls, and improving accounting processes. They will actively contribute to strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial analysis and ensuring compliance with current accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating daily accounting operations.
  • Ensure the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Perform monthly consolidation of the five entities.
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Ensure that financial reports comply with applicable accounting regulations and standards.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of financial processes and the optimization of accounting tools.
  • Supervise and participate in account reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and prepare the documents required for financial audits.
  • Assist in analyzing budget variances in fixed costs.
  • Manage internal controls and ensure the application of good accounting practices.

Daily tasks:

  • Initiate and verify accounting transactions and journal entries.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and entries.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of accounting and financial operations.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in accounting and finance, including several years in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP standards.
  • Proficiency in financial management tools and ERP software.
  • Ability to analyze and solve financial problems.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) an asset.
