Job description :
This role owns the real-time rendering layer of a browser-based medical visualization platform.
You will design and evolve GPU-accelerated systems that handle complex anatomical models, high-resolution imaging data, and interactive measurement workflows, all within the constraints of browser environments.
This is a performance-critical engineering role where rendering precision, frame stability, and memory discipline directly impact clinical usability.
What You’ll Work On :
- Architect and implement GPU-accelerated 3D rendering systems in the browser
- Make architectural decisions around rendering abstractions and performance trade-offs
- Develop and refine rendering pipelines (camera systems, scene graphs, shading, object interaction, post-processing effects)
- Analyze and improve frame performance, memory efficiency, and responsiveness across different browsers and GPU environments
- Translate clinical and product requirements into reliable, intuitive visualization tools
- Build sustainable graphics infrastructure, including internal tooling, debugging workflows, and documentation
- Contribute to structured development practices aligned with regulated healthcare software standards
Compensation & Benefits :
- Base salary: $80,000 – $105,000
- Equity participation (ESOP)
- Remote-first structure with flexibility
- Ownership of mission-critical visualization systems
- Direct collaboration with clinical end-users
- Post-seed stage, strong growth trajectory
Skills and qualifications :
Required Background :
- Proven experience building interactive 3D web applications using WebGL, WebGPU, or comparable technologies
- Strong grasp of 3D mathematics and rendering fundamentals (matrices, projections, quaternions, shaders, materials, lighting models)
- Solid professional experience with TypeScript and modern front-end engineering principles
- Demonstrated ability to profile, diagnose, and optimize graphics-intensive applications
Nice to Have :
- Experience with libraries such as Three.js, VTK/VTK.js, cornerstone3D, or similar frameworks
- Familiarity with advanced visualization techniques (volume rendering, segmentation overlays, clipping planes, measurement tools)
- Exposure to monorepo architectures and modern build/test tooling
- Understanding of medical imaging data (DICOM concepts)
- Experience working within structured or regulated development environments
