Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President, Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all manufacturing activities under their responsibility. In a technical, complex, and evolving manufacturing environment, the Vice President is responsible for ensuring operational performance while developing the organizational capabilities required to support the company’s growth. Responsible for Production, Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, Planning, Purchasing, and Production Engineering, the Vice President ensures alignment and collaboration across these functions to optimize productivity, manufacturing capacity, costs, quality, and delivery lead times.
The Vice President, Operations also plays a critical role in transforming and structuring the company’s operations. The Vice President develops and implements processes, performance indicators, and management practices designed to increase operational efficiency and support sustainable growth. A highly engaging leader and change agent, the Vice President builds and develops a strong management team, fosters a culture of accountability, and promotes continuous improvement at all levels of the organization. The Vice President is skilled at aligning teams around common objectives and supporting managers as they evolve their practices and ways of working.
As a strategic partner to the President, the Vice President actively contributes to the company’s strategic direction and to decisions related to operations, manufacturing capacity, capital investments, automation, technology, and initiatives aimed at supporting the organization’s growth and competitiveness.
Detailed Description
More specifically, working within a team-oriented and collaborative approach, and without limitation to other duties that may be required to achieve organizational objectives, the Vice President, Operations will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and deploy the operational vision in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
- Actively participate as a member of the executive leadership team.
- Translate business objectives into measurable operational action plans.
- Support the company’s growth by improving manufacturing capacity and productivity.
Manufacturing Operations Management
- Lead all manufacturing and assembly activities.
- Ensure that schedules, costs, and quality standards are met.
- Optimize production flows and resources.
- Implement performance indicators and ensure that established targets are achieved.
- Ensure the efficient use of equipment and infrastructure.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement best practices in productivity, quality, and safety.
- Establish a culture focused on performance, accountability, and problem-solving.
- Identify and lead automation and operational transformation projects.
Supply Chain and Logistics
- Oversee purchasing, procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
- Reduce supply risks and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Implement performance indicators and ensure that established targets are achieved.
Production Engineering
- Oversee the Production Engineering function.
- Reduce non-conformities and delivery lead times while improving overall performance.
Quality, Health and Safety
- Ensure the company’s quality standards are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong workplace health and safety culture.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of quality processes.
Team Management
- Engage, develop, and coach the managers under their responsibility.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration among Operations, Engineering, Sales, and After-Sales Service.
- Participate in succession planning and talent management activities.
- Develop a culture of engagement and excellence.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in custom manufacturing, industrial equipment, HVAC-R, mechanical systems, or refrigeration industries is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SyteLine is an asset).
- Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
