Our client is a company specializing in the design and manufacture of building materials. They are looking for a new Technical Writer Draft instructions and procedures as part of Engineering Change projects. The role includes translating, formatting, publishing, and distributing technical documents.
Your role :
Technical Focus
- Write, analyze, and validate technical documentation in collaboration with engineering, scientific, and cross-functional teams.
- Produce and maintain structured documentation: technical data sheets, installation guides, user guides, maintenance guides, cybersecurity white papers, etc.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with internal standards and quality systems.
- Manage the publication, layout, and distribution of technical documentation.
- Coordinate the translation of documents produced.
- Resolve issues related to technical writing, desktop publishing, and distribution.
- Work in the PLM system to create/modify documentation.
- Use structured XML creation tools (asset) and Creo Illustrate (advantage).
Project Focus
- Understand complex technical concepts in order to adapt documentation to different audiences (technicians, scientists, users).
- Work independently on routine assignments, with supervision for special projects.
- Participate in planning and updating documentation when technical changes occur.
Job conditions :
Working hours: Monday to Friday
Job location: On site, Quebec city (occasional work in remote)
Salary: Starting at 75k (depending on experience) + 5% annual bonus
Position type: Executive - permanent contract
Skills and qualifications :
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing.
- Degree in engineering OR technical writing OR mechanical engineering OR related field (certificate accepted).
- Proficiency in technical illustration tools (IsoDraw, Creo Illustrate).
- Experience with XML/structured documentation tools.
- Familiarity with PLM systems.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- General knowledge of manufacturing technologies and methods.
- Bilingual in French/English.
