Job description :

The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the team to achieve the company’s revenue growth targets. They manage the day-to-day activities of the team while providing training and coaching with the objective of creating a high-performance culture.

They oversee all sales activities and ensure client satisfaction, putting in place an organized structure and the tools needed to drive marketing actions and generate qualified leads.

Main Responsibilities :

Sales Management :

  • Supervise the teams’ work, assist in problem solving and answer questions for any issues requiring escalation.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and training to the team to promote ownership, ensure effective work methods and the development of skills.

Review and optimize sales practices, such as:

    • Client management and relationship development.
    •  Lead generation processes and approaches.
    • Efficiency of operational processes.
    • Coaching in the use of sales tools such as Salesforce.
    • Delivery of sales presentations and discovery of the client’s needs.
  • Lead the weekly sales meeting, setting goals for weekly sales activities and following up on results. Ensure their team is staffed with the appropriate balance of skills and experience to meet the company’s current and planned business needs. Propose structural improvements, as needed, and lead their implementation.
  • In conjunction with the COO, set objectives for Sales & Marketing and translate them into individual employee goals. Work closely with team members to ensure goals are achieved, strategies are executed and KPIs are met.
  • Take the necessary measures to ensure that annual sales growth and margin objectives are achieved by the team.
  • Put in place a reporting structure for the department and regularly report on results, challenges and progress to the executive team.
  • Identify target accounts, work with the sales team to determine priorities, approach, strategy and timelines, and follow-up on execution.
  • In conjunction with the sales team maintain positive relationships with key clients, communicating with them regularly to understand their needs and anticipate new market opportunities. Work to continuously ensure a high level of satisfaction, a positive customer experience and awareness of new products or solutions.

Marketing Management:

  • Working with external consultants and the graphics team, ensure ongoing creation of content for newsletters, social media, website updates, sales materials, etc.
  • Develop and execute the annual marketing plan and calendar of marketing activities. Prepare an annual marketing budget for approval.
  • Analyze results and ROI of various marketing initiatives and adjust sales and marketing approach as needed.
  • Research and identify new market opportunities, segments or territories, review competitor activities and use this information to create or adapt sales and marketing strategies.

General:

  • Prepare the annual sales forecasts and sales budget. Review the budget throughout the year, communicating forecast updates to other departments as needed.
  • Resolve any sales or product-related issues that may arise in collaboration with other team members and/or departments.
  • Ensure optimal collaboration with other departments. Increase cross-departmental awareness of challenges, potential issues or upcoming changes, so that adequate action plans can be taken.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, responsible for all personnel matters relating to their team such as hiring, onboarding, performance management, promotions, etc.
  • Perform other related tasks and participate in or lead other special projects, as needed.

Skills and qualifications :

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in B2B Sales in fashion, printing and/or packaging, products or services to the retail industry, including at least three (3) years in a management position.
  • A degree in management, marketing or business administration in a similar related field.
  • Experience managing longer sales cycles and /or selling solutions to multiple stakeholders would be an asset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English and French, to service the entire Canadian market.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook. Good knowledge of CRM software such as Salesforce, including experience with coaching and guiding users on best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, hands-on management style, ability to positively influence and drive results by providing clear expectations and training/coaching the team.
  • Must be skilled and driven to find new business opportunities and share this passion with the team.
  • Ability to dive into sales processes, find ways to optimize them and manage organizational changes.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, close high-profile deals and be able to drive growth in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Must be available to travel occasionally.
