Job description :

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing and assembly activities within the plant. This role ensures operational efficiency, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery of products. By leading the production team, the manager plays a key role in achieving the company's performance objectives related to cost control, productivity, safety, waste reduction, and overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and assembly methods within a Lean production environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production process.
  • Manage production schedules and make necessary adjustments based on customer demand and delivery timelines.
  • Plan work schedules for production staff, prepare manufacturing orders, and maintain up-to-date work instructions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through process, component, and product optimization.
  • Improve operational efficiency and conduct time studies when required to ensure adherence to work standards.
  • Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) processes in collaboration with the engineering team (including assembly, testing, and final integration) while meeting technical and design requirements.
  • Support the selection and procurement of new production equipment.
  • Address operational issues systematically and resolve production-related challenges.
  • Provide accurate manufacturing data to support operations and decision-making.
  • Work closely with suppliers and the research & development department.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise production team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning within the production environment.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance production performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety through training, awareness, open communication, and enforcement of safety protocols.

Skills and qualifications :

  • University degree or college diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field (an asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with applied Lean methodologies.
  • Experience in managing electronic production (an asset).
  • Strong ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team efforts.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with excellent communication skills.
