Job Summary :

The Mechanical Design Engineer participates in the design, development, and improvement of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems. He/she works in collaboration with engineering, production, and quality to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions that comply with standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Design and model mechanical parts and assemblies in 3D (CAD).
  • Prepare detailed drawings and technical files in accordance with industry standards. (Parts or sub-assemblies, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, workshop plans, manufacturing plans, assembly plans, service plans, illustrations)
  • Enter or provide the required information in MRP and PLM systems: part creation, product nomenclature, technical change requests, etc.
  • Participate in prototype development and validation testing.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, methods, and quality teams to optimize equipment.
  • Propose design improvements aimed at reducing costs, increasing production efficiency, and improving reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, engineering practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide technical support during production transition and assist with problem solving.
  • Apply DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) principles.

Skills and qualifications :

REQUIRED SKILLS

Technical :

  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal work, molding).

Interpersonal :

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organizational skills, autonomy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (oral and written).
  • Analytical mind and ability to solve technical problems.

Required profile :

  • College diploma in mechanical engineering
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry (specialized machinery, industrial equipment, etc.) is an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English
