Job description :

The Departement Manager controls all department activities in accordance with store objectives and policies with a view to achieving maximum sales, while satisfying customer needs and maintaining a work environment conducive to staff engagement.

Several positions to be filled in different departments in the food retail sector (bakery, grocery, fishmonger, dairy, delicatessen, meat, ready-to-eat and fruit & vegetable). For a dynamic Quebec-based company offering interesting career advancement opportunities, and among the leaders in the food and pharmacy sectors in Quebec and Ontario.

Description of main responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Store Manager, sets sales targets and ensures store budget targets are met.
  • Must be able to place departmental orders and purchases. Checks invoices for conformity with delivery notes and ensures receipt of goods.
  • Ensures that the store is ready to receive customers in terms of quantity of merchandise, product labeling and rotation of perishables. Ensures that the department is ready to receive customers.
  • Ensures that product labelling complies with store standards, head office price list and scanner cash register prices, and that price cards comply with the circular.
  • Ensures compliance with planogram marketing.
  • Must be able to complete employee work schedules.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies (reception, safety, etc.) and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Participates in employee induction, training and evaluation.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Sec 5 or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience in the food industry
  • Bilingual, depending on region
  • Quality work/service orientation
  • Decision-making skills
  • Good team and priority management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, autonomous
  • Ability to adapt
