Job description :

The Process Specialist - Flexography and Lamination is responsible for providing technical support for printed and laminated products. Working closely with the operations team, his goal is to optimize the printing and lamination processes while reducing production costs and scrap, and maximizing equipment efficiency.  He works with the development team to support new business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Printing and Lamination Processes (35%):

  • Develop and execute waste reduction projects.
  • Improve the performance of existing products by proposing and supporting manufacturing process changes to reduce production costs.
  • Support the organization in the introduction of new processes at the presses, pre-presses and lamination.
  • Ensure the follow-up of new products and structures in the departments.
  • Establish new critical parameters to be evaluated.
  • Make recommendations for equipment modifications and investments.
  • Submit capital requests for efficiency and quality improvement projects for printing and lamination.
  • Participate in new technology reviews.
  • Research industry trends.
  • Develop relationships and identify the best suppliers of flexographic products in order to have access to the best technologies in our industry.

Management and technical know-how (20%):

  • Maintain all documentation related to printing and lamination production processes.
  • Participate in the design of work procedures for presses and lamination equipment.
  • Ensure a high level of technical competence of the press operators and the lamination department by providing training and conducting periodic evaluations.
  • Support management in certain engineering processes or to improve equipment efficiency.

Production Support (inks, assembly, presses and lamination) 35% :

  • Identify, investigate and provide solutions to recurring problems that result in non-conformances or lost production and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity in terms of start-up times and production speeds.
  • Increase equipment reliability by maintaining equipment in optimal condition and identifying critical parts.

Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (10%):

  • Integrate health and safety and prevention into daily activities.
  • Support the implementation of solutions to identified OHS risks.
  • Support the organization to maintain our SQF structure and FDA certification.
  • Participate in quality rounds and corrective actions.
  • Manage certain environmental programs.

Main working relationships:

  • Regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Contacts with members of the quality control, customer service, production and finance departments.
  • Contacts with professional associations. Keep abreast of industry best practices.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Post secondary education and a minimum of 8-10 years experience preferably in the flexographic industry OR a Technical Diploma combined with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Leadership
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, MRP programs
  • Bilingual (French, English)
