Job description :

Our client, an independent charity, is currently looking for a Director of Communications. This person will report to the President, the person hired will be responsible for designing 360° communication strategies and promotional strategies for marketing the Foundation's brand. The incumbent will also be responsible for the deployment of digital campaigns and the management of the communities of the various platforms and social networks. She will supervise the outsourced external teams and the various collaborators who will support her to create and produce content and multimedia pieces such as the annual report, brochures, videos, podcasts, newsletters, web content, press relations and other media. She will also be called upon to support the main philanthropy department in fundraising campaigns as well as the program team for the various Foundation events.

Responsibilities :

Marketing and digital strategies :

  • Plans and implements the entire marketing/communication plan, including the digital strategy and all the tactics and tools serving the Foundation's strategic plan and leadership curriculum.
  • Implements processes and performance measures to assess the success of initiatives and recommend adjustments to achieve set objectives.
  • Produces and analyzes performance reports and stays up to date on emerging digital and social media trends.

Communication/promotion/content tools :

  • Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of promotional campaigns, program and community visibility and underlying activities.
  • Responsible for the production of a series of videos and podcasts in English and French.
  • Plans and oversees content calendars, creation and writing of daily publications and community management on various platforms.
  • Oversees and participates in the development, writing and updating of content for the website.
  • Is responsible for the development and production of the Foundation's annual report.
  • Designs, writes and sends newsletters and emails to the community.
  • Ensures that the Foundation's brand image is respected in all content created.
  • Works with external specialized resources to support the realization of its projects.
  • Designs and produces presentation materials for Foundation management and events (Powerpoint, Prezi).
  • Coordinates work and manages project timelines with translation and writing freelancers.

Communications, press relations :

  • Collaborates, with management and our external partner, on strategies, the development of key messages and oversees the management of media relations and the maintenance of the reputation of the Foundation.
  • Supports the senior philanthropy department in its fundraising strategies (for example, development of presentations, direct mail campaigns, newsletter).
  • Designs promotional campaigns for the call for applications, new cohorts created, Institutes on Engaged Leadership, conferences, etc.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Have a university degree in communications, public relations or any other combination of education and relevant experience
  • Have 8 to 10 years of experience in a communications management function
  • Experience in academia or research an important asset
  • Excellent command of oral and written French and English which will be validated by written tests
  • Demonstrated writing skills, ability to understand, revise and synthesize complex academic concepts
  • Have a very good knowledge of digital campaigns as well as performance measures
  • Exceptional ability to interact with others using tact and diplomatic skills
  • Experience in managing the team and specialized resources necessary to support the various campaigns
  • A results-oriented profile with strong analytical skills
  • Very good organization and priority management to manage and plan the daily workload of the team
  • Rigor and attention to detail to ensure quality control of media campaigns
  • Strong ability to work in a team
  • Sense of initiative, autonomy, curiosity and creativity
  • Ability to manage several projects at the same time
  • Very good knowledge of commonly used software and technological environments (Microsoft Office suite, Sharepoint)
