Located in the east GTA, our client is a successful and growing provider of grocery products and financial services to the independent grocery channel here in Ontario. As a result of continued success and expansion, they are now on the hunt for a "top performing" Category Manager.

The ideal candidate will come from the food / grocery retail vertical.

The Category Manager will be responsible for merchandising, maintaining, and developing a promotional strategy for the products offered by our vendor clients to our member clients. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Schedule business reviews with each vendor client addressing sales, profits, merchandising plans, and seasonal merchandising requirements.
  • Develop and maintain all sales materials required for the company to offer to their member clients. These materials include weekly and monthly flyers, product sales vehicles, maintenance of the website in relation to their member clients and any other requirements
  • Develop a 52 week ad plan for all their vendor client products to promote their product features.
  • Use business analytics to highlight the current and future product requirements for their member clients.
  • Continue and support bringing vendor clients to the organization.
  • Work with their vendor clients to develop a product truckload strategy to bring vendor products to their member clients as economically as possible.
  • Schedule business reviews with the company management highlighting vendor product opportunities for sales growth.
  • Encompassing all of the above, the Category Manager’s key responsibility will be to build merchandising vehicles addressing the profit requirements of the company.

Skills and qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will come with 3-5 years category management experience from the food – grocery – retail corporate space.
  • Bring a collaborative – winning type attitude.
  • Strong analytics aptitude.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with the vendors.
  • Understand the importance of "moving products".
